Welsh Shepherd's Pie
A classic British dish made with ground lamb, vegetables, and topped with a layer of mashed potatoes. A hearty and comforting meal for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β500g unique lambground
- β1 large ultra onionschopped
- β2 medium welsh carrotspeeled and chopped
- β100g blackberriesfresh or frozen, for added sweetness
- β1 can shepherds pie mixoptional
- β3 large unique potatoespeeled and chopped
- β250ml milkwhole or low-fat
- β50g unique butterunsalted

Preheat the oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).

In a large pan over medium heat, cook the lamb until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the chopped onions and cook until softened.

Add the chopped carrots and cook for a further 5 minutes.

If using, stir in the canned pie mix. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Meanwhile, boil the chopped potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender.

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk, butter, and mash until smooth.

Transfer the lamb mixture to a 20x20cm baking dish. Top with the mashed potatoes.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh blackberries if desired.
