Pork Carnitas Tacos
A Mexican-inspired recipe featuring slow-cooked pork in a spicy tomato-based sauce, served in crispy buns.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound pork shouldercut into large cubes
- ●2 tablespoons unique hot saucesuch as sriracha
- ●1/4 cup portuguese chouriçosliced
- ●1 medium onionchopped
- ●2 cloves garlicminced
- ●8-10 bunsfor serving
- ●1 teaspoon cuminground
- ●1/2 teaspoon corianderground
- ●1/2 teaspoon saltto taste
- ●1/4 teaspoon black pepperto taste

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

In a large Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat.

Add the pork and sear until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the chouriço, hot sauce, and enough water to cover the pork.

Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.

Braise the pork for 2 1/2 hours, or until tender and easily shredded.

Warm the buns on a baking sheet in the oven.

Shred the pork with two forks and serve in the buns.

Garnish with cilantro, onion, and a slice of lime.
