Italian Banana Fritters
A twist on traditional Italian dough fritters, these banana fritters are a delicious dessert inspired by Greek cuisine.
Ingredients
- β2 cups unique flourall-purpose flour works well too
- β1 teaspoon aerated yeastactive dry yeast
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β2 bananaripe bananas work best
- β1/2 cup greeek extra virgin olive oil
- β1 cup sugar
- β2 eggs
- β1 cup loukoumades syrup

1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, and salt.

2. In a separate bowl, mash bananas and mix with eggs, sugar, and oil.

3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.

4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rest in a warm place for 1 hour.

5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

6. Using a spoon, drop small balls of dough into the oil.

7. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.

8. Remove the fritters from oil with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

9. Drizzle loukoumades syrup over the fritters while still warm.
