Ukrainian-Style Pierogi with Pillowy Dough
A classic Ukrainian dish featuring tender dumplings filled with various ingredients, served with a side of fried onions. This recipe showcases a pillowy dough that's perfect for pierogi.
Ingredients

- β1 cup Warm waterNot hot, not cold
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Vegetable oil
- β1 cup Potato and cheese filling (see note)

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and warm water. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into 2 equal pieces and roll out each piece into a thin sheet.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Place a tablespoon of the potato and cheese filling in the center of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal the pierogi.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pierogi for 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

Heat a skillet with a small amount of vegetable oil over medium heat.
