Tunisian Lamb Kebabs
A flavorful and aromatic North African-inspired dish featuring tender lamb, rich spices, and a hint of sweetness.
Ingredients
- β500g Lamb shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubesMake sure to trim any excess fat
- β2 tsp Tunisian spice blend (available at most Middle Eastern markets or online)Can substitute with a combination of ground cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper
- β2 tbsp Olive oilUse a high-quality, extra-virgin olive oil
- β1 large Chopped onionCan use red or yellow onion
- β1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsleyCan use fresh cilantro as a substitute
- β1 tsp HoneyCan substitute with maple syrup or agave nectar
- β2 tbsp Lemon juiceFreshly squeezed is best
- βto taste SaltUse kosher or sea salt
- βto taste Black pepperUse freshly ground pepper
- β4-6 slices Pita bread or crusty breadOptional, but recommended for serving

Preheat grill to medium-high heat (375Β°F/190Β°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together Tunisian spice blend, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

Add the lamb cubes to the bowl and toss to coat evenly with the spice mixture.

Thread the lamb cubes onto skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.

Grill the lamb kebabs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, or until cooked to desired level of doneness.

While the lamb is cooking, toast the pita bread or crusty bread slices on the grill or in a toaster.

Once the lamb is cooked, brush with honey and lemon juice.

Serve the lamb kebabs on toasted bread with a sprinkle of chopped parsley and a side of your favorite accompaniments.

Note: If using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from catching fire.
