Canadian Udon Casserole
A hearty Canadian-inspired casserole featuring tender udon noodles and a tangy sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 package, 12 slices Canadian baconThinly sliced
- β1 package, 8 oz Udon noodlesDried
- β2 tbsp Vegetable oilFor greasing the dish
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 can, 14 oz Canned diced tomatoesDiced
- β1 cup Tangy sauceHomemade or store-bought
- β1 cup Grated cheddar cheeseOptional

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook udon noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Add the Canadian bacon and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from heat and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add the cooked udon noodles, tangy sauce, and cooked Canadian bacon to the skillet. Stir to combine.

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

If using, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top of the casserole.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
