French Mochi CrÚme Brûlée
A unique twist on the classic crÚme brûlée, featuring Japanese mochi and a French flair.
Ingredients
- â1 package, crushed mochi
- â1 cup, granulated sweet
- â1/2 cup treacle
- â3 large eggs
- â1/2 cup granulated sugar
- â1 cup heavy cream
- â1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the crushed mochi, sweet, treacle, and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream.

Add the vanilla extract to the egg mixture and whisk to combine.

Pour the egg mixture into the saucepan with the mochi mixture and whisk until smooth.

Pour the mixture into 4-6 ramekins or small baking dishes.

Place the ramekins in a large baking dish and add hot water to come halfway up the sides.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly jiggly.

Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let cool to room temperature.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Just before serving, sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar over the top of each ramekin.

Caramelize the sugar with a kitchen torch or under the broiler.
