Braised Beets in Tunisian Tagine
A delicious and comforting side dish that combines the earthy sweetness of beets with the aromatic flavors of Tunisian spices, all in a traditional tagine. Perfect for a keto diet.
Ingredients
- β2 large Beets
- β2 tsp Tunisian tagine spice blend
- β1/2 cup chopped Spring onions
- β2 tbsp Olive oil
- β2 cloves minced Garlic
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Peel and chop the beets into large chunks.

In a large bowl, whisk together the tunisian tagine spice blend, olive oil, garlic, salt, and black pepper.

Add the chopped beets to the bowl and toss to coat with the spice mixture.

Transfer the beets to a 9x13 inch baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.

Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the beets are tender.

Remove the beets from the oven and let them cool slightly.

Sprinkle the chopped spring onions over the top of the beets and serve hot.

Note: Traditionally, a tagine is cooked in a clay pot with a conical lid. If you have one, feel free to use it! Otherwise, a regular Dutch oven or baking dish will work just as well.
