Russian Beef Dumplings
A traditional dish from Russia, these beef dumplings are filled with a savory beef mixture and served with a side of spicy sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β20-25 wrappers Dumpling Wrappersstore-bought or homemade
- β1 medium Onionfinely chopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- β1 teaspoon Savory
- β1 cup Spicy Saucestore-bought or homemade

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and savory. Mix well with your hands until just combined.

Cover the beef mixture and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

To assemble the dumplings, lay a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface. Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Dip your finger in a small amount of water and run it along the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper into a half-moon shape, pressing the edges together to seal the dumpling.

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and beef mixture.

In a large pot or steamer, bring 2-3 inches of water to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and place a steamer basket over the water.

Add the dumplings to the steamer basket and cover with a lid.

Steam the dumplings for 10-12 minutes, or until they are cooked through.

Serve the dumplings with a side of spicy sauce for dipping.

Optional: Pan-fry the dumplings in a little oil until golden brown on the bottom before serving.
