Smoky Australian Beef Tagine
A rich and flavorful beef tagine with a smoky twist, inspired by Australian barbecue.
Ingredients
- β500g beefpulled beef, or thinly sliced
- β1 taginepreferably made from cast iron
- β1 tbsp smokyliquid smoke or smoked paprika
- β2 tbsp olive oilfor browning the beef
- β1 onionchopped
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β1 tsp cuminground
- β1/2 tsp cinnamonground

Preheat the oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in the tagine over medium-high heat. Add the beef and brown on all sides.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the cumin and cinnamon, and stir to combine.

Add the smoky liquid and stir to combine.

Transfer the tagine to the preheated oven and cook for 1 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Remove the tagine from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Serve the beef hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
