Smoky Chicken Tagine
A North African-inspired stew made with smoky chicken, algerian spices, and a hint of tamarind. This dish is perfect for a cozy dinner with family and friends.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds Chicken thighsBone-in, skin-on
- β2 tablespoons Smoky molasses
- β2 teaspoons Algerian spice blendAvailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β1 tablespoon Tamarind paste
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
- β1 large OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- β1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsley

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add spice blend, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

Add tamarind paste and smoky molasses. Stir to combine.

Add 1 cup water to the pot and bring to a simmer.

Cover the pot and transfer to the oven.
