Beef Tagine
A traditional Moroccan stew made with beef, vegetables, and spices, slow-cooked in a clay pot.
Ingredients
- β1 pound, cut into 2-inch pieces Beef
- β2 teaspoons Algerian tagine spice blend
- β1 large, chopped Onion
- β3 cloves, minced Garlic
- β2 medium, peeled and chopped Carrots
- β2 medium, peeled and chopped Potatoes
- β1 can, drained and rinsed Chickpeas
Instructions

Heat the oil in the bottom of a clay tagine or large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the carrots, potatoes, chickpeas, and tagine spice blend. Stir to combine.

Add 2 cups of water to the tagine and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot, garnished with parsley or cilantro, if desired.
