Smoky Croatian Wheat Stew
A hearty, comforting stew originating from Croatia, made with smoky meats and dense wheat bread. This stew is perfect for a cold winter evening.
Ingredients
- β6 slices Smoked Bacon
- β2 cups, cubed Croatian Wheat Bread
- β4 cups Vegetable Broth
- β2 medium, peeled and sliced Carrots
- β3 medium, peeled and cubed Potatoes
- β1 large, chopped Onions
- β3 cloves, minced Garlic
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black Pepper
- β1/4 cup, chopped Fresh Parsley

Heat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large Dutch oven, cook the smoked bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onions are translucent.

Add the sliced carrots and cubed potatoes to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the vegetable broth, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.

Return the crispy bacon to the pot and bring the stew to a boil.

Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
