Smoky Borshch with Crumbly Ukrainian Flatbread
A hearty Ukrainian-inspired borshch recipe with smoky flavor, served with crumbly flatbread for dipping. This beet-based stew is perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients

- β2 large beetspeeled and diced
- β2 medium carrotspeeled and sliced
- β1 large onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 can canned tomatoes14.5 oz
- β2 tbsp borshchUkrainian beet-based stew mix
- β1 package crumbly flatbreadUkrainian-style flatbread for serving
- β1 cup sour creamoptional
- β1/4 cup chopped fresh dilloptional

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add beets, carrots, and paprika. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add canned tomatoes, borshch, and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
