Sauerbraten with Robust Caramelized Onions
A traditional German pot roast dish marinated in vinegar and spices, served with robust caramelized onions and a side of leafy greens.

- β1 (2-3 pound) piece beef pot roast
- β1 large onion
- β1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- β2 tablespoons brown sugar
- β2 teaspoons robust
- β1 teaspoon norwegian
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1. Preheat the oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

2. In a large Dutch oven, combine the beef pot roast, onion, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, robust, norwegian, salt, and black pepper.

3. Cover the Dutch oven with a lid and transfer to the preheated oven.

4. Roast the pot roast for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until it is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

5. Remove the pot roast from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
