A crispy and flavorful appetizer or snack, perfect for any occasion. Simply marinate shrimp in a mixture of soy sauce and sake, then coat and fry to a golden brown.
Ingredients
- β12 large shrimppeeled and deveined
- β1 cup all-purpose flour
- β1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- β1 cup vegetable oil
- β2 tablespoons soy sauce
- β2 tablespoons sake
- β1 egg
- β1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- 1
In a shallow dish, mix together flour, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper.
- 2
In a separate dish, beat the egg.
- 3
In another dish, mix together panko breadcrumbs and a pinch of salt.
- 4
Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- 5
Dip the floured shrimp in the beaten egg, making sure they're fully coated.
- 6
Roll the egg-coated shrimp in the panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the shrimp to help them stick.
- 7
Heat about 1/2-inch (1 cm) of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350Β°F (180Β°C).
- 8
When the oil is hot, add 3-4 shrimp to the skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 9
Remove the fried shrimp from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- 10
Repeat the frying process with the remaining shrimp.
- 11
Serve the deep-fried shrimp hot and enjoy!
