Braised Oxtail Stew
A hearty, comforting stew made with tender oxtail and rich flavors.
Ingredients
- β2 pounds oxtail
- β2 carrot
- β2 stalks celery
- β1 onion
- β1 cup braising liquidbeef broth
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- β2 bay leaves
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown oxtail on all sides, then set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sautΓ© onion, carrot, and celery until softened.

Add flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Gradually add braising liquid, scraping up browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

Return oxtail to the pot, cover, and bring to a boil.

Transfer pot to the oven and braise for 2 1/2 hours, or until oxtail is tender.
