Pan-Seared Nectarine with Rich Syrup
A sweet and savory Chinese-inspired dessert featuring pan-seared nectarine in a rich syrup. Perfect for a warm evening.
Ingredients
- β2 nectarine
- β1/4 cup syruprich
- β1/4 cup tart cherries
- β2 tbsp brown sugar
- β1/4 cup water
- β1 tsp sesame oil
- β1/4 tsp ginger
- βpinch salt

1. In a small saucepan, combine the syrup, tart cherries, brown sugar, water, sesame oil, ginger and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.

2. Continue to simmer the syrup for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.

3. Meanwhile, slice the nectarine into wedges and season with a pinch of salt.

4. Heat a non-stick pan or wok over medium heat. Add a small amount of oil and swirl it around to coat the pan.

5. Add the nectarine wedges to the pan and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until caramelized.

6. To serve, place the seared nectarine on a plate and spoon the warm syrup over the top.
