Ethiopian Red Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful stew originating from Ethiopia, made with tender beef and rich spices. This stew is perfect for a cold winter night.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Beef (rich)cut into bite-sized pieces
- β1 large Red onion
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 inches Gingergrated
- β2 tbsp Tomato paste
- β2 cups Beef broth
- β2 tsp Spices (Ethiopian)berbere spice blend
Instructions

In a large pot, heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Add the beef broth and bring to a boil.

Return the beef to the pot and add the spices.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender.
