Rye Toast with Toasted Ukrainian Bread
A simple Ukrainian-inspired snack made with toasted rye bread and served with rapidly toasted bread.
Ingredients
- β1 loaf Rye breadpreferably day-old bread
- β1 loaf Ukrainian breadpreferably day-old bread
- β2 tablespoons Buttersoftened
- βto taste Salt
- βfor serving Optional: sour cream or cheeseoptional
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C).

Cut the Ukrainian bread into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes.

Place the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly toasted.

Meanwhile, cut the rye bread into 1-inch (2.5 cm) slices.

Butter one side of each rye bread slice.

Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until lightly toasted.

Remove the bread from the oven and let cool for a minute.

Top each rye bread slice with a spoonful of toasted Ukrainian bread cubes.
