Welsh Sausage in the Hole
A classic Welsh dish where sausages are baked in a hollowed out loaf of bread. This recipe is perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- ●4 Welsh sausages
- ●1 large loaf Bread
- ●1 medium, chopped Onionoptional
- ●1 medium, sliced Mushroomoptional
- ●2 tablespoons Butterfor greasing the bread
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Slice the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the inside, leaving a shell about 1 inch thick.

Place the bread shell on a baking sheet.

If using, scatter chopped onion and sliced mushroom inside the bread shell.

Place a Welsh sausage in the bread shell, nestling it into the space.

Dot the top of the bread with butter.

Cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
