Ethiopian Beef Stew
Hearty and flavorful stew originating from Ethiopia, made with tender beef and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound BeefCut into 1-inch cubes
- β2 tablespoons Ethiopian Spice BlendAvailable at most African or Middle Eastern markets
- β2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- β1 large OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- β2 cups Beef Broth
- β1 cup Quick-Cooking LentilsRinsed and drained

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the Ethiopian spice blend and cook for 1 minute.

Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add beef broth and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes.

Add lentils and continue to simmer, covered, for an additional 20 minutes, or until the meat is tender.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
