Classic Chicken Tagine
A traditional Moroccan dish made with chicken, spices, and dried fruits, slow-cooked in a flavorful tagine.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs chicken
- β1 tsp smoked paprika smoke
- β2 tbsp olive oil cold
- β2 tsp ground cumin moroccanuse fresh if available
- β1 onion, chopped quickabout 1 cup
- β2 cloves garlic, minced moroccan
- β1 cup mixed dried fruits (apricots, prunes, raisins) quick
- β1 cup chicken broth cold

Heat the oil in the bottom of a clay or ceramic tagine over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the cumin, smoked paprika, and dried fruits. Stir to combine.

Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.

Cover the tagine and transfer to the oven.

Bake at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 30-40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
