Japanese-Style Agedashi Tofu
Crispy fried tofu in a savory broth, a classic Japanese comfort food.
Ingredients
- β1 block (14 oz) Tofu
- β1/4 cup Cornstarch
- β2 cups Vegetable oil
- β1/4 cup Soy sauce
- β2 tablespoons Mirin
- β2 tablespoons Sake
- β4 pieces Kombu
- β4 pieces Katsuobushi
- β1/4 cup Green onions
- β1/4 cup Grated daikon

Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

In a shallow dish, mix together the cornstarch and a pinch of salt.

Dredge the tofu cubes in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off excess.

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Remove the tofu from the oil and drain on paper towels.

In a separate pot, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, kombu, and katsuobushi.
