Pan-Seared Gyoza with Dipping Sauce
Japanese-inspired pan-seared dumplings filled with pork and served with a sweet soy dipping sauce. Quick and easy to make, perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- β1 pound ground pork80/20 or 70/30 lean to fat ratio works well
- β20-24 wrappers gyoza wrappers
- β1/4 cup soy sauce
- β2 tablespoons sugar
- β2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- β1/4 cup green onions

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, soy sauce, sugar, and rice vinegar. Mix well with your hands or a spoon until just combined.

2. Lay a gyoza wrapper on a clean surface. Place a tablespoon of the pork mixture in the center of the wrapper.

3. Dip your finger in a small amount of water and run it along the edge of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper into a triangle by bringing the two opposite corners together to form a point.

4. Press the edges together to seal the gyoza, making sure they are tightly closed.

5. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 1-2 tablespoons of oil and swirl it around to coat the bottom of the pan.

6. When the oil is hot, add the gyoza to the pan, leaving a small amount of space between each dumpling.

7. Cook the gyoza for 2-3 minutes on the first side, or until the bottoms are golden brown.

8. Flip the gyoza over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the second side is also golden brown.

9. Serve the gyoza hot with a dipping sauce made from equal parts soy sauce and rice vinegar.
