Crispy Puffed Pastry Plantains
Crisp, golden plantains wrapped in a flaky pastry crust, inspired by Venezuelan cuisine.
Ingredients
- ●1 package Puffed Pastrythawed
- ●2-3 ripe Venezuelan Plantainspeeled
- ●to taste Saltoptional
- ●1 tablespoon Granulated Sugaroptional

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Peel the plantains and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rounds.

Roll out the puffed pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Place the plantain slices on one half of the pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.

Sprinkle with salt and granulated sugar, if desired.

Fold the other half of the pastry over the plantains and press the edges to seal.

Brush the pastry with a little water and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.

Place the plantains on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
