Uruguayan Beef Empanadas
A traditional Uruguayan dish, these empanadas are filled with seasoned beef and onions, perfect for a snack or dinner.
Ingredients
- β500g Uruguayan beefGround beef
- β1 OnionChopped
- β2 packages Flaky pastryThawed
- β1 tsp Korean chili flakesOptional, for spicy flavor
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1/2 tsp Black pepper

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion to the pan and cook until softened.

Add the Korean chili flakes, salt, and black pepper to the pan and stir to combine.

Roll out the flaky pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of pastry using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Place a tablespoon or two of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry circle.

Brush the edges of the pastry with a little water and fold the pastry in half to form a triangle or a square shape.

Press the edges of the pastry together to seal the empanada.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with a little water and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
