Russian Pan-Seared Steak with Dumplings
A hearty and flavorful dish featuring a perfectly pan-seared Russian-style steak served with homemade dumplings.
Ingredients
- β1.5 pounds Russian Steakpreferably ribeye or strip loin
- β1 cup All-purpose Flourused for dumpling coating
- β1 large Eggused as dumpling binder
- β1 cup Milkused in dumpling dough
- β1 teaspoon Saltseasoning for steak
- β1/2 teaspoon Black Pepperseasoning for steak
- β2 tablespoons Butterused for pan-searing steak
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose Flourused for thickening gravy
- β1 cup Beef Brothused for dumpling cooking liquid

Season the steak with salt and black pepper.

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside to rest.

In a separate bowl, mix together flour, egg, and milk to form a dough.

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten slightly into a disk.

Dust the dumplings with flour and add to the skillet used for the steak.

Pour beef broth into the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until dumplings are cooked through.
