Tunisian Chicken Tagine
A flavorful and aromatic North African-inspired dish featuring chicken cooked in a rich and spicy tagine sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken breastboneless and skinless
- β2 tablespoons peppery taginestore-bought or homemade spice blend
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor cooking
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1/4 cup romano cheeseshredded, for serving
- β1 teaspoon pepperfreshly ground
- β1 teaspoon saltto taste

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add chicken and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add tagine spice blend, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

Add 1 cup of water to the pot and bring to a simmer.

Cover the pot and transfer to the oven.

Bake at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
