Italian-Style Braised Pork Shoulder
A hearty Italian-inspired braised pork shoulder dish, roasted to perfection in the oven.
Ingredients
- β1.5 kg pork shoulderbone-in
- β2 tbsp olive oil
- β1 large onionchopped
- β2 medium carrotchopped
- β2 stalks celerychopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 can (28 oz) canned diced tomatoes
- β1 cup red wine
- β1 cup chicken broth
- β2 tsp italian seasoning

Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the pork shoulder until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the pot and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the canned diced tomatoes, red wine, chicken broth, and italian seasoning to the pot.

Return the pork shoulder to the pot and make sure it's covered with the braising liquid.

Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.

Braise the pork shoulder for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until it's tender and falls apart easily.

Remove the pot from the oven and let the pork rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
