Korean-Style Vegan Tofu Bites
Crispy fried tofu bites marinated in a sweet and spicy Korean-inspired sauce, perfect as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients
- β1 block (14 oz) tofupressed and drained
- β2 tbsp cornstarchfor coating
- β1 tsp korean chili flakesoptional, for added heat
- β2 tbsp brown sugarfor marinade
- β2 tbsp soy saucefor marinade
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β tofu marinadesee instructions
- β1 cup vegetable oilfor frying

1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

2. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes and place on a plate.

3. In a shallow dish, mix together cornstarch, chili flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt.

4. Coat each tofu cube in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off excess.

5. In a separate dish, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and 2 tbsp of water.

6. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and toss to coat.

7. Heat 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

8. Fry the tofu cubes in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

9. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried tofu from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

10. Bake the tofu in the preheated oven for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.
