Algerian Lentil Tagine
A hearty and flavorful Algerian lentil tagine, cooked to perfection in the oven. This comforting dish is perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Red lentilsRinse before use
- β2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 medium CarrotsChopped
- β2 medium PotatoesChopped
- β1 teaspoon Cumin
- β1/2 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- βto taste Salt

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, heat the oil over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the carrots and potatoes and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the lentils, cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.

Add 4 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil.
