Beef Birria Tacos
Soft and tender beef in a flavorful birria sauce, served with warm tortillas, onions, and fresh cilantro. A traditional Mexican dish with a rich history.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef brisket
- β1 cup Birria saucesee recipe below for homemade birria sauce
- β1 large Onions
- β1/4 cup Cilantro
- β4 Lime wedges
- β8-10 Warm tortillas
- β1 teaspoon Mexican oregano
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β1 teaspoon Cumin
- β1 teaspoon Chili powder

Brown the beef brisket in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Remove the browned beef from the pot and set it aside.

Add the onions to the pot and cook until they are translucent.

Add the garlic, cumin, and chili powder to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the birria sauce to the pot and stir to combine.

Return the beef to the pot and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Reduce the heat to low and let the birria cook for 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Shred the beef with two forks and season it with salt and pepper.

Warm the tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.

Assemble the tacos by placing some of the beef onto a tortilla, followed by a spoonful of the birria sauce, some sliced onions, and a sprinkle of cilantro.
