Japanese-Style Irish Stew
A hearty, comforting Irish stew infused with the rich flavors of Japan. A unique twist on a classic dish.
Ingredients
- β500g Irish Stew MeatUse either beef or lamb for best results
- β1 medium OnionThinly sliced
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 inches Fresh GingerGrated
- β1 head CauliflowerBroken into florets
- β2 tbsp Soy SauceJapanese-style soy sauce
- β1/4 cup SakeOptional
- β1/4 cup Green OnionsChopped, for garnish

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the Irish stew meat in batches until browned on all sides. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then cook the sliced onions until caramelized.

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger; cook for 1 minute.

Add the browned meat back to the pot, along with the soy sauce and sake (if using).

Stir to combine, then add the cauliflower florets. Cover the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
