Sweet Braised Pork Tostadas
A twist on traditional Mexican tostadas, this dish features tender braised pork and a blend of spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound pork shouldercut into large chunks
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon dried oregano
- β1 teaspoon cumin
- β1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- β2 cups chicken broth
- β1/4 cup toasted lard or vegetable oil
- β6-8 toasted tostadas
- β1 cup shredded cheese

Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Season the pork chunks with oregano, cumin, and nutmeg.

Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the pork chunks until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the chicken broth to the pot and bring to a simmer.
