Slovakian Paella
A nourishing Slovakian-inspired paella dish, perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Slovakian sausageyou can use kielbasa or another type of sausage
- β2 cups, sliced Mixed bell peppersany color
- β1 large, chopped Onionsyou can use red or yellow onions
- β3 cloves, minced Garlicadjust to taste
- β1 cup Paella riceuncooked
- β2 tablespoons Tomato pastecanned or fresh
- β2 cups Chicken brothyou can use vegetable broth instead
- β1 teaspoon Dried thymefresh thyme works too
- β1 teaspoon Paprikasweet or smoked
- βto taste Saltadjust according to your taste
- βchopped, for garnish Fresh parsleyoptional
Instructions

Heat oil in a large paella pan or skillet over medium-high heat.

Add Slovakian sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove sausage from the pan and set aside.

Add mixed bell peppers and onions to the pan, cooking until tender, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add paella rice and stir to coat with oil and mix with vegetables.

Add tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add chicken broth, thyme, and paprika. Stir to combine.

Return sausage to the pan and season with salt.

Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, until rice is tender and liquid has been absorbed, about 20-25 minutes.

Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
