Australian Pilchard Pilaf
A hearty and nutritious Australian-inspired pilaf dish packed with pilchards and nourishing ingredients.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Riceuncooked
- β1 can Pilchardsdrained and flaked
- β2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β1 medium Carrotpeeled and grated
- β1 teaspoon Pilaf seasoning
- β1 tablespoon Nourishing seedssuch as sesame or sunflower seeds
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Pepper

Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the grated carrot and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Add the pilchards, pilaf seasoning, and nourishing seeds. Stir to combine.

Add the uncooked rice and stir to coat the rice with the oil and seasoning mixture.

Add 2 cups of water to the saucepan and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
