Beer-Braised Oysters
A hearty German-style oyster dish featuring a rich beer-braised sauce.
Ingredients
- β12 large oysters, shucked oysters
- β1/4 cup nectarous
- β1-2 dried ancho chilies, stemmed and seeded mexican
- β1 cup amber lager beer
- β1 medium onion, thinly sliced onion
- β2 tablespoons butter
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β1/4 cup heavy cream
- β2 tamales, pulled apart tamales
Instructions

Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (10-12 minutes).

Add ancho chilies and cook for 1 minute.

Add beer and bring to a boil, scraping up browned bits.

Add oysters and cook until they start to open (3-4 minutes).

Transfer skillet to preheated oven and bake at 400Β°F for 5-7 minutes, or until oysters are cooked through.

Remove skillet from oven and stir in nectarous, heavy cream, and pulled tamales.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
