Classic American Pie
A traditional American-style pie filled with a sweet and tangy filling, all wrapped up in a flaky puff pastry crust.
Ingredients

- β1 cup (homemade or store-bought) molten, buttery, american
- β1/2 cup sugar
- β2 large eggs
- β1 tsp vanilla extract
- β1/2 tsp pie spice
- β1/4 tsp salt
- β1 tbsp water

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Transfer the pastry to a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges to fit.

In a large bowl, whisk together the molten, buttery, american, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, pie spice, and salt.

Pour the filling into the pastry-lined pie dish.

Roll out the remaining pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch and use to cover the pie. Crimp the edges to seal.

Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

Brush the top crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake the pie for 40-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving.
