Filipino Beef Stew
A hearty, flavorful stew originating from the Philippines. This recipe is made with tender beef, plump tomatoes, and a hint of sweet plum sauce.
Ingredients
- β1.5 pounds beef stew meatcut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
- β1/4 cup plum saucesweet and savory
- β2 large tomatoesdiced
- β1 large mild onionschopped

- β2 tablespoons stewFilipino-style stew mix

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onions and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the tomatoes and plum sauce to the pot and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Add the stew mix and browned beef back to the pot, stirring to combine.

Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
