Syrian Beef Tagine
A hearty and flavorful Indian-inspired beef stew, slow-cooked in a clay pot with aromatic spices and herbs.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Beef shincut into 2-inch pieces
- β2 tbsp Low-fat friendly oil
- β2 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 tsp Gingergrated
- β1 tsp Cumin powder
- β1 tsp Coriander powder
- β1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- β1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1/4 cup Fresh cilantrochopped

Heat oil in a clay pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and ginger; cook for 1 minute.

Add beef; cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook for 1 minute.

Add salt and 2 cups of water. Stir to combine.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 hours or until beef is tender.

Stir in chopped cilantro. Serve hot over rice or with naan bread.
