Uruguayan Smoked Beef Empanadas
A traditional Uruguayan dish with a gluten-free twist. Smoked beef empanadas are a delicious and savory pastry filled with tender beef.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound Smoked Beef
- ●2 cups Empanada Dough (Gluten-Free)
- ●1 small Onion
- ●2 cloves Garlic
- ●1 Egg
- ●to taste Salt
- ●to taste Black Pepper
- ●for brushing Olive Oil
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the empanada dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

In a pan, heat some olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until softened.

Add the smoked beef to the pan and cook until heated through.

Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto one half of each dough circle.

Brush the edges of the dough with a little water and fold the other half of the dough over the filling.

Press the edges together to seal the empanada and use a fork to crimp the edges.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with a little olive oil and cut a few slits in the top of each.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
