Steamed Algerian Lentil Pilaf
A flavorful and healthy Algerian-inspired lentil pilaf, made with steamed lentils and served with a side of light pilaf.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Steamed lentilsRinse and drain well before using
- β2 cups Light pilafCook according to package instructions
- β1 tsp Algerian spice blendAvailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β2 tbsp Olive oilFor sautΓ©ing
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 cloves GarlicMinced
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper
- β1/4 cup Fresh parsleyChopped (optional)
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add the steamed lentils, Algerian spice blend, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan.

Stir to combine and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add the cooked light pilaf to the saucepan and stir to combine.

Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the pilaf is heated through.

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
