British Beef Stew à la Française
A hearty French-inspired beef stew with a rich and savory flavor, made with tender British beef and a hint of umami.
Ingredients
- ●1.5 pounds British Beef (1.5 pounds), cut into 2-inch cubes
- ●1 medium Onion (1 medium), chopped
- ●2 medium Carrot (2 medium), peeled and chopped
- ●2 large Potato (2 large), peeled and chopped
- ●1 cup Red Wine (1 cup)
- ●2 cups Beef Broth (2 cups)
- ●2 tablespoons Tomato Paste (2 tablespoons)
- ●1 cup Umami-rich Mushroom Broth (1 cup)
- ●2 sprigs Thyme (2 sprigs)
- ●to taste Salt (to taste)

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the beef on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the browned beef from the pot and set aside.

Reduce heat to medium and sauté the onion and carrot until they are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the potatoes, red wine, beef broth, tomato paste, and thyme to the pot. Stir to combine.

Return the browned beef to the pot and bring the stew to a boil.

Transfer the pot to the oven and cook at 300°F (150°C) for 2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
