Tagine Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful beef stew made with tender beef, juicy vegetables and a rich blend of spices, all slow-cooked in a traditional Tunisian tagine.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef (cut into 2-inch cubes)
- β1 medium Onion
- β2 medium Carrot
- β1 medium Red bell pepper
- β1 can (14.5 oz) Kidney (canned)
- β2 tablespoons Tunisian spice blend
- β1/4 cup Juicy olives (pitted)
- β2 tablespoons Tomato paste
- β2 cups Chicken broth
- β Salt and black pepper

Heat oil in the bottom of a large tagine or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the onion, carrot, and red bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.

Add the canned kidney, Tunisian spice blend, olives, tomato paste, and chicken broth. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the tagine and transfer it to the oven.

Braise the stew for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Season the stew with salt and black pepper to taste.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired.
