Kaldereta Filipino Beef Stew
A classic Filipino beef stew recipe known for its rich and savory flavor.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef (short ribs or beef shank)
- β1 large Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β2 tablespoons Tomato paste
- β2 tablespoons Kaldereta mix
- β2 cups Beef broth
- β1 cup Water
- β Salt and pepper
- β2 medium Potatoes
- β2 Bell peppers (any color)

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Sear the beef until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sautΓ© the onion and garlic until softened.

Add the tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Add the beef broth, water, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours or until the beef is tender.

Add the potatoes and bell peppers to the pot and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes.
