Chickpea Masala Bites
Crispy Japanese-inspired bites filled with a flavorful chickpea and chana masala mixture.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 cups chickpeascanned
- β2 tbsp chana masalastore-bought
- β1 cup all-purpose flourgluten-free flour for gluten-free option
- β1/2 cup buttermilkor substitute with plain yogurt
- β2 juicy indian chiliesoptional, for extra heat
- β2 eggsbeaten
- β1/4 cup grated cheeseoptional

1. Preheat oil in a deep frying pan to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and a pinch of salt.

3. Gradually add buttermilk, whisking until smooth.

4. Add chana masala, mix well.

5. Add chickpeas and mix until coated.

6. If using, add grated cheese and mix until combined.

7. Using a spoon, drop small balls of the mixture into the hot oil.

8. Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown.

9. Using a slotted spoon, remove bites from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
