Korean-Style Pork Jjigae
A spicy and savory Korean stew made with pork and gochujang, served with a side of steamed rice.
Ingredients
- β500g Pork shouldercut into 2-inch pieces
- β2 tbsp GochujangKorean chili paste
- β1 tsp Korean chili flakesoptional, for extra heat
- β2 tbsp Soy saucedivided
- β1 tsp Brown sugaroptional
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1/4 cup Green onionschopped, for garnish

Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.

Add pork and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove pork from pan and set aside.

Add gochujang, chili flakes, and 1 tablespoon soy sauce to pan.

Cook, stirring constantly, until sauce is smooth and fragrant, about 2 minutes.

Add 1 cup water to pan and bring to a boil.

Return pork to pan and simmer, covered, until tender, about 20 minutes.

Stir in remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce and brown sugar (if using).

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
