Knafeh Chicken Shawarma
A twist on the classic Middle Eastern street food, this shawarma features shredded chicken cooked in a knafeh-infused eastern-style stock.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken breastboneless, skinless
- β2 tablespoons knafehcrumbled
- β2 cups eastern-style stockhomemade or store-bought
- β1 cup shredded lettuceoptional
- β1 cup shredded carrotoptional
- β2 tablespoons jazzy saucesuch as tahini or hummus
- β4-6 pita breadto serve

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

In a large bowl, whisk together the eastern-style stock, knafeh, and jazzy sauce.

Add the chicken breast to the bowl and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook on the grill for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

Shred the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Warm the pita bread by wrapping it in foil and heating it in the oven for a few minutes.

Assemble the shawarma by spooning the shredded chicken onto the pita bread, followed by shredded lettuce and carrot if desired.
