Jazzy Algerian Chicken Tagine
A classic French-inspired North African dish, made with tender chicken and a rich, flavorful sauce. Perfect for a cold winter night. The jazzy spice blend adds a modern twist to this traditional recipe.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken thighs
- β1 tablespoon almondground almonds
- β2 teaspoons algerian spice blendor use jazzy spice blend
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor cooking
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon gingergrated
- β1 can canned diced tomatoes14.5 oz
- β1 cup chicken brothlow-sodium
- β2 tablespoons honeyoptional
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in the bottom of a clay or ceramic tagine over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the algerian spice blend and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add the ground almonds, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and honey (if using).

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover the tagine and cook for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
